Description Lexus LS

Lexus LS - the fifth generation of the flagship Lexus sedan debuted in January 2017 at the Detroit Auto Show, and in March of the same year, at the Geneva Motor Show, hybrid modification.

The "fifth" Lexus LS is built on Lexus' new global platform for rear-wheel drive cars of the highest price segment - GA-L, which also formed the basis coupé LC 500. The wheelbase of the sedan has reached 3125 mm - 35 mm more than the long-wheelbase LS of the previous iteration. In addition, the flagship "stretched" to 5235 mm (+84 mm) and expanded to 1900 mm (+25 mm), but at the same time received a more rapid silhouette due to a height reduced by 16 mm (1450 mm). In addition, the hood and trunk lid of the sedan were placed lower by 30 and 41 mm, respectively.

Thanks to a new platform with an increased content of high-strength steels and aluminum in the construction, the fifth generation LS turned out to be about 90 kg lighter than its predecessor. Cars with air suspension have learned to rise during the landing of passengers, top-end performances have received 20-inch cast or forged wheels, and the glass sunroof now moves not inside the roof, but on top of it.

The new Lexus LS 350 is equipped with a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated engine (315 hp and 380 Nm), and the LS 500 is equipped with a bi-turbo engine of the same volume (421 hp, 600 Nm). Both units are mated to Aisin's new 10-speed automatic, but the 315-horsepower version is rear-wheel drive, while the 500-horsepower version is all-wheel drive. The first accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.5 seconds, while the second performs a similar exercise in 4.9 seconds.

Hybrid Lexus LS 500h received the Lexus Multi Stage Hybrid System. The 3.5-liter V6 engine (responsible for the rotation of the rear wheels) is assisted by two electric motors (the rotation of the front wheels), which receive electricity from a lithium-ion traction battery. Together, the units develop a power of 359 hp. Special transmission for hybrid drive  runs with the smoothness of a 10-speed automatic on a regular Lexus LS. In this case, the driver can control the transmission in manual mode using the paddles on the steering wheel. Acceleration 0-100 km / h takes this version of 5.5 seconds, and fuel consumption in the combined cycle is promised at 7.4 l / 100 km.

The standard equipment of the new generation Lexus LS includes ten airbags, full LED headlights, leather interior, dual-zone climate control, memory settings for seats, steering wheel and exterior mirrors, power trunk lid, closers for all doors, sunroof, DVD player and a set of electronic assistants Safety System+, including automatic braking system when reversing. In the top versions for the car, additional airbags are available in the rear seats, three-zone climate control, matrix headlights, interior trim with wooden inserts, a fully customizable rear right seat and a folding front seat, a multimedia system for rear riders, a projection screen, a Mark Levinson audio system and other luxury car options.
